The OPS Accountant I will work with the Fiscal team and be responsible to work on Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, Billing, Bank Deposits, and Purchasing.
Other Personal Services (OPS) employees do not fill established positions and their employment is considered temporary.
This position is anticipated to work 40 hours per week at the hourly rate of $20.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Knowledge of Statutes, Rules, and Regulations that pertain to the Department Knowledge of recordkeeping procedures Knowledge of bookkeeping principles and practices Knowledge of accounting practices Knowledge of general business practices Knowledge of office procedures and practices Possess critical thinking skills Possess effective communication skills Ability to maintain detailed fiscal and purchasing records Ability to post, balance, and reconcile fiscal records Ability to analyze data Ability to compile and review purchasing and fiscal data for accuracy and completeness Ability to understand, interpret, and apply statutes, rules, and regulations that pertain to the Department Ability to work independently or with minimal supervision Ability to communicate effectively Ability to plan, organize, and coordinate work assignments Ability to prioritize and multi-task Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others Ability to use a computer, MS Word, Excel, SharePoint, One Drive, Outlook, Teams, and accounting software Ability to work flexible hours, if needed.
Qualifications: Minimum: An associate degree in business-related field is required.
One year of previous experience in Accounting or Bookkeeping role is required.
Valid Florida driver's license or Florida identification card.
Reliable transportation is required.
Florida Department of Health is required to work before, during, and/or beyond normal work hours or days in the event of an emergency.
Emergency duty required of the incumbent includes working in special needs shelter or performing other emergency duties including but not limited to, response to or threats involving any disaster or threat of disaster man-made or natural.
Preferred: A bachelor’s degree or higher in business administration, finance, or accounting.
Three years or more of previous experience in Accounting or Bookkeeping role.
Experience working for a State of Florida agency in a business role.
Experience in MFMP AOD, FIRS, and/or FLAIR systems preferred.
Recognized certifications in accounting or finance.
