*POSITION: PLANNER I* *POSITION #: 91907* *DEPARTMENT: DEVELOPMENT* *SALARY RANGE: $39,389.
28 - $61,053.
39* *OPENING DATE: JANUARY 12,2023* *CLOSING DATE: UNTIL FILLED* *GENERAL DESCRIPTION:* This is a middle management, administrative and supervision position.
Participating in a highly responsible professional planning work program requiring excellent communication, organization, and time management skills.
Work is performed under the administrative direction of the Development Director.
*-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------* *ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:* 1.
Prepares special planning studies, staff report for amendments to the land development regulations, comprehensive plans and grant applications.
2.
Assist the Public concerning Development Department regulations, coordinate with developers and other county departments developments submitted for county approval.
3 Direct, coordinate, and monitor work assignments between development technicians, permit technicians and the secretary.

* *MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS* *KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:* * Knowledge of community, comprehensive (long-range) and current planning principles and * Procedures.
* Knowledge of growth management policies of Florida.
* Knowledge of code enforcement procedures and strategies.
* Ability to communicate clearly with the public.
* Familiarity with personal computers and various software applications including Microsoft * Office 4.

* Team oriented leader and an effective decision maker.
* Ability to work without close supervision.
* Good verbal and writing skills.
*EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:* Graduation from an accredited four year college or university with a degree in Planning or a closely related field and three (3) years of planning experience.
*(A comparable amount of training, education, or experience can be substituted for the minimum qualifications.
)* *LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS OR REGISTRATIONS:* Must possess or be able to obtain a valid Florida driver’s license.
*ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL SKILLS:* Acceptable eyesight (with or without corrections) Acceptable hearing (with or without aid) Ability to communicate both orally and in writing Ability to access, input and retrieve information from a computer Ability to sit at a desk and view a display screen for extended periods of time.
Ability to enter data at a prescribed rate of speed.
Ability to access file cabinets for filing and retrieval of data.
