Mason Classical Academy Assistant Principal Job Description Immediate Supervisor: Principal Essential Functions Must achieve the following outcomes with or without reasonable accommodation: · Review and assist with implementation of school policies, procedures, Parent/Student Handbook, and Employee Handbook · Assist with coordinating implementation of school instructional program · Monitor school activities for adherence to all school, state, and national regulations · Assess appropriateness of school services and programs · Recommends changes in programs, personnel, facility management, materials, and equipment as needed · Assist with evaluations of the work assigned to school staff, providing reports and recommendations to the principal and cooperates in recognition or remediation of faculty and staff members as needed · Assist with design and implementation of in-service training programs · Assist with the recruitment and selection of applicants for school-based positions · Develop, maintain, and implement student discipline procedures · Communicate with parents regarding academic performance, discipline, policies, and procedures · Monitor and maintain car line protocols for safety and efficiency · Work with school officials, sponsor, state, and local law enforcement to monitor and maintain campus security · Work with sponsor as needed to fulfill charter requirements · Understand and implement requirements and procedures for the grievance policy Additional Duties · Comply with the Code of Ethics and uphold and enforce rules, administrative directives and regulations, school board policies, and local, state, and federal regulations · Articulate and facilitate implementation of the mission and values of MCA · Safeguard confidentiality of privileged information · Prepare and maintain accurate and complete records and reports as required by law, state directives, school policy, and administrative regulations · Share responsibility for the supervision and care of school inventory, proper and safe use of facilities, equipment, and supplies, and reports safety hazards promptly · Maintain professional relationships and work cooperatively with employees, the community, and other professionals · Maintain and develop professional competence through individual and staff training, in-service educational activities, and self-selected professional growth activities · Attend and/or conduct staff meetings and participate on committees within area of responsibility · Perform other tasks related to area of responsibilities as requested or assigned by a supervisor · Work with legal counsel as needed to properly adhere to requirements and regulations pertaining to the charter contract, state law, and federal law · Oversee facility management services · Assist with overseeing classrooms, lunch, and recess areas for safety and efficiency Experience, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities · Effective communication skills, both verbal and written · Flexibility, organization, decision-making and problem-solving skills · Interpersonal skills with diverse populations in-person, by telephone, or via the Internet · Knowledge of community, computer system, financial and legal requirements · Ability to meet deadlines, work on multiple projects, and coordinate the work of others · Knowledge of school policies on immunization, medication, first aid, emergencies, and child abuse/neglect Education · The minimum requirements for this job are as follows: Bachelor’s degree · Master’s degree preferred · Teaching experience preferred · Law enforcement background preferred Working Environment · Work with various staff members in a team environment including the administrative staff, State Department personnel, legal counsel, parents, students, advocates, and others outside the school · Frequent interactions with people in person, on the phone, and via the Internet will be necessary, sometimes outside of normal work hours · Duties are primarily performed in a normal school environment Physical Demands · The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job with or without reasonable accommodation · Must occasionally lift and move up to 25 pounds in supplies, which requires bending, stooping, and lifting · Must use hands and arms to manipulate objects · Must use keyboards, tools, and other controls · Must sit and stand for long periods of time · Will escort students, parents, community members, and employees around campus · Must have normal vision and hearing, with or without aid.
