Job Title: Major Gifts Officer Salary Range: $90,000 - $125,000 Reports to: Vice President MISSION: For more than 50 years, the Conservancy of Southwest Florida has been a leading environmental advocacy organization dedicated to protecting Southwest Florida's water, land, wildlife, and future.
PURPOSE OF JOB: Under the Director of Development’s guidance and support, works for the identification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of major gifts.
Position responsibilities include: • Major Gifts ($25,000) for restricted, operating and endowment funds.
• Leadership Circle development, growth and maintenance.
RESPONSIBILITIES: Fundraising Strategy and Execution: • Works with the Board of Directors, CEO, and the Development Committee and independently in the cultivation and solicitation of donors for major, planned, capital, and endowment gifts.
• Assume and achieve fundraising revenue and prospect outreach goals as set forth in annual budget.
• Develops a portfolio of 100-150 prospects including initiating contact with new prospects and existing donors and, where appropriate, soliciting gifts directly or with peer solicitors.
• Working with the Vice President of Development and the Director of Development, helps to manage a strategic process of major gift prospects and donors.
Prospect and Donor Relationship Management: • Records and maintains all aspects of prospects and donors’ records, including accurate contacts and donor notes.
• Tracks and records progression of cultivation progress using a formal move management system.
• Follow up with major donors and prospects to maintain relationships and provide updates.
• Coordinates with Development staff to maintain accurate information in Altru and in hard copy files.
Event and Activity Coordination: • Working with senior staff and volunteers, plans, coordinates, and implements ambassador events, activities for major donors and prospects, including site visits, tours, hikes, meetings, neighborhood updates, etc.
• Define the objectives and goals of VIP donor event or activity, and monitors/reports if goals are met, and follow-up actions.
• Establish clear communication channels and timelines, and ensure all logistics, such as availability of staff resources, or campus locations are available, during donor events, visits or activity.
Ethical and Confidentiality Compliance: • Maintains AFP (Association of Fundraising Professionals) and PPP (Partnership for Philanthropic Planning) code of ethics and confidentiality of all donor records and information.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE • Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university • Five years related experience as a fundraising professional and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
