* *ROLE DESCRIPTION* The Revs Institute is accepting applications for position of Audio-Visual Technician to work with various departments on the installation, troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance of any audiovisual components in the Institute’s exhibitions and educational programs.
This position will also provide frontline end-user support for administrative staff workstations, printers/scanners, and the basic institutional network.
This position has regular work hours of 8:00am to 5:00pm, Tuesday thru Saturday.
The staff member must also be able to work some flex hours in support of events and exhibitions that require after hours technical support.
*DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES* * Works with internal and external clients for event support and management, including preparing, setting up, and operating all audio-video equipment for performances, special engagements, conferences, committee meetings, seminars, etc.
* Communicates with and takes guidance from curators, artists, and videographers/filmmakers to achieve their desired outcome.
* Sets up, troubleshoots, repairs, and maintains computer-based audio-visual systems, including video conferencing, teleconferencing, webcasting, video streaming, video on demand, kiosks, and video displays.
* Operates projectors and computer-aided video for public screenings in the Revs Institute theater, within galleries, and occasional external events and popup displays.
* Supports the media team by operating cameras and/or assisting with media management and sound for video documentation.
Edits performance and event and other media production audio and video footage, gathering and organizing assets, assembly, media management, and output of final video.
* Supports the museum curator and special exhibitions teams by handling the proper presentation of video, interactive media, and kiosks planned by the museum staff for content development and migration to public displays.
Jointly oversees inventory and storage of equipment and management of digital assets.
* Performs any other duties reasonably related to the functions described above.
*AV Requirements:* * Excellent computer skills to deal with the Museum’s increasing reliance on network and computer-based technology.
* Experience with installing and maintaining AV equipment in gallery and public space settings (including but not limited to: cable termination, rack building, understanding of safe mounting and anchoring techniques, digital and analog playback, switching and distribution systems, and digital way finding systems).
* Experience supporting computer-based audiovisual solutions, including webcasting, video streaming, video on demand, and interactive kiosks.
* Experience with live sound mixing, audio solutions and networks, lighting control, video players and controllers, commercial LCD panels, and digital projectors.
* Ability to troubleshoot a wide range of commercial and consumer electronics, including, but not limited to tape and disc playback systems, digital cinema projectors, network/IP-based video control systems, video conferencing, PCs, Macs, etc.
* Experience in event support, including preparing and setting up portable audio and video equipment for special engagements, theatrical shows, live panel discussions, conferences, committee meetings, seminars, etc.
* Ability to read and interpret CAD drawings.
* Experience preparing technology setup documentation, checklists, and ‘problem solving’ guides.
* Experience at balancing multiple responsibilities in order to meet the increasing demand for technology-based presentations, displays, and video conferencing (Zoom, Microsoft Teams, etc.
) * Ability to maintain professionalism and a calm manner at all times.
* Ability to explain technical issues in a non-technical manner.
* Self-motivated and a team player.
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
*IT Support Requirements:* * Excellent computer skills to provide user support with the Museum’s network and computer-based technology.
* Experience with installing and maintaining computer workstations and peripherals used by Institute staff (including but not limited to: initial PC/Apple workstation setup, installation of cloud-based apps and software, installation and support of printers/scanners/monitors, and general front line ‘help desk’ support on administrative and retail staff workstations ).
* Experience supporting local area network technology, the Revs Institute wireless network, and acting as a liaison for the web site and other web-based tools and offerings.
*QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS* * High school diploma or GED required.
College or technical school training in audio and video techniques and best practices is strongly preferred.
*PREFERRED SKILLS* *Highly desirable skills and/or knowledge:* * Knowledge of the principles of the handling of archival materials, including older technology 8mm/16mm/35mm film.
* Skills in operating and the ability to analyze, support, and perform preventative and corrective maintenance on film projectors, digital projectors, and playback devices.
* Experience in a professional recording studio environment, including audio engineering and video capture and other matters of AV production.
*Desirable computer skills:* * Apple QuickTime, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Photoshop, Aftereffects, Adobe Media Encoder, Adobe Premiere, Zoom Microsoft Teams, and other digital editing production tools.
*Required:* * If hired, individual must agree to and successfully complete a confidentiality covenant, resume, background check, and drug test before the first day of work.
