Assistant Estimator/Takeoff Specialist

*Job Description:* As an Assistant Estimator/Takeoff Specialist, you will play a crucial role in supporting the estimating team by providing accurate and detailed takeoffs and assisting in the preparation of cost estimates for various underground construction projects.
You will work closely with the Estimator, Project Manager, and other team members to ensure the success of our bids and proposals.
*Responsibilities:* *Quantity Takeoff:* * Conduct comprehensive quantity takeoffs from project drawings, specifications, and other relevant documents.
* Utilize Planswift takeoff software and other tools to ensure precision and accuracy.
* Collaborate with project teams to gather necessary information for accurate takeoffs.
*Estimating Support:* * Assist in the preparation of cost estimates for underground construction projects.
* Compile and organize data related to labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractor quotes.
* Ensure all estimates align with project requirements, specifications, and industry standards.
*Bid Coordination:* * Work closely with the Estimator to coordinate and organize bid efforts.
* Prepare bid packages and ensure all required documentation is complete and submitted on time.
* Collaborate with subcontractors and suppliers to gather quotes and pricing information.
*Documentation and Record Keeping:* * Maintain organized records of all takeoffs, estimates, and related documents.
* Track and document changes in project scope, specifications, and other relevant information.
* Assist in the preparation of project documentation for handover to the operations team.
*Communication:* * Communicate effectively with internal teams, subcontractors, and suppliers to gather necessary information.
* Participate in pre-bid meetings, site visits, and other project-related discussions.
* Provide regular updates on estimating progress and challenges to the Estimator and management.
*Continuous Improvement:* * Stay informed about industry trends, construction technologies, and estimating best practices.
* Contribute ideas for process improvements and efficiency gains within the estimating department.
*Qualifications:* * Previous experience in construction estimating, takeoffs, or related roles.
* Proficiency in on-screen takeoff software and excel.
* Strong attention to detail and analytical skills.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
* Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
* Familiarity with underground construction methods and materials is a plus.
