Overview:
This position will be requiring performance of field inspections and/or reviewing building compliance during various stages of residential and/or commercial construction in accordance with applicable building codes and applicable County ordinances.
Examine Plans for compliance of applicable building codes and County ordinances.
Knowledge of handicap codes, fair housing requirements, etc.
This position is open to full time and part-time candidates.

Responsibilities:
Extensive knowledge of local building codes, County ordinances, current construction procedures and technology.
Interpretation of codes in the field and ability to provide code compliant solutions.
Ability to compose reports indicating violations and/or deficiencies.
Ability to provide code clarification and permitting process.
Ability to positively interact with the other staff members, inspectors, engineers, contractors, governmental entities, and the general public.
Must be able to prepare and maintain up to date records of building plan reviews.
Must be able to attend meetings as required, ability to conduct plan review meetings with architects, engineers, developers and property owners about code applications, interpretations, and/or violations.
Knowledge of modern construction practices, methods, and materials.
Ability to read plans and specifications.
Perform other related duties as required
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Good time management, organization, and attention to detail skills.
Demonstrate ability to exercise initiative and a considerable amount of independent judgement.
Qualifications:
SPECIAL LICENSE/REGISTRATION/CERTIFICATION:
DBPR FL Mechanical Inspector Certification required or ability to attain.
ICC Certifications are a bonus.
PE or registered architects are welcome to apply.
Multiple discipline certifications preferred.
EXPERIENCE:
3-5 years of experience in municipal code inspections.
5 years of experience as a Builder, Architect, Engineer, Building Inspector or Building Superintendent preferred.
Good Driving Record.
Salary will be based on possession of active certifications, multiple area certification holders such as structural plus mechanical, electrical, and plumbing.
