To support projects involving commercialization of new products; commercialization of new laser welding equipment; continuous improvements to existing process performance; increases in productivity and production capacity; and reduction of costs.

This position is located in our Manufacturing Location in Ave Maria, Florida.
Monday- Friday, 8:00am-5:00pm Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Support new product development/design transfer by providing recommendations on material selection and mating surface geometry.
Support manufacturing prototyping, design transfer, and launch of new products by leading the laser-welding process development activities including: identification of laser welding parameters based on material and product design requirements; development of laser-welding equipment specifications; ensuring high process capability prior to release to manufacturing.
Develop and maintain test methods as needed to support laser-welding process development.
Support the Validation Engineers during the validation of laser-welders in compliance with FDA and ISO 13485 requirements for Medical Device process validation.
Develop best practices and strategies for laser-welding equipment selection.
Support the procurement of new laser marking equipment including: translating material and product design requirements into laser process requirements, gathering operations voice of customer inputs (cycle times, ergonomics, man-machine interface), collaborating with mechanical tooling/fixturing designers and controls engineers, developing equipment specifications (URS/FRS), coordinating quotes and procurement of new equipment with vendors, executing DOE and process capability studies, and training of operations.
Lead process improvement projects through Designed Experiments (DOE’s), structured problem solving (Lean A3, Six Sigma DMAIC), and Statistical Analysis.
Develop and revise work instructions.
Support the maintenance of equipment and tooling once released to production through troubleshooting, repair tracking, and analysis of impact to the validated state.
Remain current with ISO/FDA/ASTM standards and internal quality assurance policies.
Support Audits as the process subject matter expert.
Knowledge Frequent use and general knowledge of industry practices, techniques, and standards.
General application of concepts and principles.
Reasoning and Ability Develops solutions to a variety of problems of moderate scope and complexity.
Refers to policies and practices for guidance.
Discretion/Latitude Works under general supervision.

Proficiency in drafting and executing engineering study protocols, DOE’s, analyzing data, and writing reports.
Ability to communicate ideas, results, recommendations, and status effectively in oral and written forms.

in Engineering required; preferably in Welding, Applied Optics/Lasers, or Materials Science Minimum of 2 Yrs.
experience in as an Engineer in Design or Manufacturing required, processes using Laser Welding preferred.
Manufacturing experience in Medical Device manufacturing preferred SAP, miniTab, Solidworks experience preferred.
Reasoning Ability: Ability to define problems, collects data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
