Qualifications:
Education and Experience
High School Diploma/GED.
Five (5) years of experience as a fire inspector, fire plans reviewer, or fire code related.
Licenses or Certifications
Must possess a valid state driver's license and obtain a valid Florida driver's license within thirty (30) days of hire or promotion.
Fire Plans Examiner I ($56,056.
00 Min - $87,713.
60 Max) – One (1) Fire Safety Inspector Certification issued by the State of Florida Fire Marshal.
Fire Plans Examiner II ($58,843.
20 Min - $92,102.
40 Max) - One (1) Fire Safety Inspector Certification issued by the State of Florida Fire Marshal, and one (1) Plans Examiner or Building Inspector license issued by the Department of Business and Professional Regulations or NFPA Fire Plans Examiner Certification, any discipline the area of which is determined by business need.
Fire Plans Examiner III ($61,796.
80 Min - $96,699.
20 Max) - One (1) Fire Safety Inspector Certification issued by the State of Florida Fire Marshal, and two (2) or more Plans Examiner or Building Inspector licenses issued by the Department of Business and Professional Regulations or NFPA Fire Plans Examiner Certification, Florida Fire Code Administrator license, any discipline the area of which is determined by business need.
Key Responsibilities
Researches and processes Fire Protection inspection reports for existing and planned businesses and developments.
Reviews, processes and issues tent, bonfire, fireworks, and controlled burn permits.
Reviews plans for residential, commercial, Planned Unit Developments and miscellaneous construction for the purpose of ensuring compliance with established building, fire codes, and/or zoning codes and regulations, public health and safety, and energy conservation.
Reviews final drainage survey plan, elevation certificates, in place surveys and compaction reports.
Enters results and comments on inspection fields of city permitting database.
