BASIC FUNCTION AND SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITIES
Provide support for all field related equipment such as irrigation engines and storm pump engines, gear head, and drive lines.
Frequently use various kinds of hand and power tools including but not limited to an air gun, impact range, and sockets.
Regularly clean, lubricate, adjust parts, equipment, and machinery.
Schedule and perform routine preventative maintenance.
Maintain appropriate service and repair records.
Research and communicate with stock room clerk to request equipment parts and supplies.
Respond to routine and emergency calls for repairs and service.
Help to identify failures and communicate observations to management.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Disassemble/ Reassemble machinery and equipment to remove parts and make repairs as needed.
Consistently examine parts for defects such as breakage and excessive wear.
Observe and test the operation of newly repaired machinery and equipment to diagnose malfunctions and/or verify the adequacy of repairs.
Study manufacturers' manuals to determine correct installation and operation of machinery.
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS [Minimum level of formal education that is required to perform this job satisfactorily]
Vocational School preferred but not required.
TRAINING, SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE
Experience: 1-2 years as a mechanic or mechanic helper in a commercial or agriculture job.
Knowledge of mechanical maintenance work, including diesel mechanic.
Operate and use required tools and equipment skillfully and safely; ability to change/fix tires, hoses, and small repairs; assembling, adjusting; oil/filter changing & lubrication; fueling equipment(s) & fuel lubricant control; assure maintenance shop housekeeping (clean & organized); basic welding skills desired, but not necessary; maintain cooperative working relationships; demonstrate sensitivity to, and respect for a diverse population.
Ability to complete the following trainings as required: AG equipment operation, lock out tag out, MSDS, ladder safety, in-house OSHA and respirator training.
NON-ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Participate in Cutrale sponsored training to improve job skills.
Participate in quality improvement processes.
Assist in the areas of safety, health, quality, environmental, honesty, dependability, and productivity.
EQUIPMENT
Leather gloves, welding gloves, neoprene gloves, chemical resistant gloves, safety glasses, welding hood, dust mask, face shield, non-slip safety shoes, welding equipment (ARC, MIG), torch cutter, bolt cutters, vice grips, clamps, work benches, circular saw, hack saw, side grinder, grinder, impact wrench, air tools, drill press, hand drill, hoist, hand truck, electrical and instrumentation tools and meters and other equipment as needed.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Working conditions will be outside in all types of weather; in open fields, in sunlight, during the hottest/coldest parts of the day.
On occasions may be expected to work in wet, muddy, and rainy conditions.
May be required to perform labor-intensive work involving prolonged standing or lifting.
Must be able to work outdoors and indoors in various temperatures.
Ability to lift necessary weight (50lbs on occasion).
Ability to perform physical tasks related to grounds maintenance.
Able to stand, stoop, bend, climb, crawl and kneel for extended periods in uncomfortable positions.
